Alexander Chadaev

I'm Alexander Chadaev. I build systems and lead technical projects.

I've worked in IT since 2013. I've run my own web studio, led client projects at major studios and managed digital product development at an energy company's digital transformation center. I've also worked with public-sector clients. At a startup, I was responsible for the entire product myself, from the idea and business logic through development, launch and operations.

Today, I combine business analysis, system design and hands-on development. I choose the architecture, write the critical components and take the system through launch and handover. You work directly with me throughout, without passing requirements through a chain of intermediaries.

From client projects to complex systems

  1. Early career Account management at web studio Individ After university, I joined Individ, then one of Russia's best-known web studios. I managed client projects for major companies in Russia and other countries and took part in on-site presentations and negotiations.
  2. My own studio Running a web studio and freelancing I built and maintained business websites using Bitrix, a content management platform, handling everything from client interviews to launch. Alongside delivery, I advertised the studio and brought in clients myself.
  3. Kelnik Project leadership at web studio Kelnik The studio built websites, apartment catalogs, 3D experiences and virtual tours for property developers. I led projects from initial negotiations and specifications through launch and support. One key project was a corporate website with a catalog of more than 10,000 apartments, integrated with multiple CRM systems. We launched it in a little over two months.
  4. Public sector Systems analysis for city government projects For the city administration of St. Petersburg, Russia, I joined a project at risk of missing its deadlines. I investigated and documented existing systems, designed new features and defined tasks for developers. I prepared the documentation and presented it and the completed work to the client, successfully taking the project through acceptance. The contract was completed.
  5. Corporate products Product and project leadership in digital transformation At energy company Gazprom Neft's digital transformation center, I led the creation of corporate web products based on domain experts' ideas: selecting oil field development options, collaborative planning and digital processing of core samples. I worked with product teams of up to 34 people at peak and contractors on the scale of IBM, while meeting requirements to replace suppliers and technologies.
  6. AdTech Development and technical leadership in advertising Within an international advertising agency group, I developed custom antifraud, an optimizer for hundreds of campaigns across ten ad networks, an AI-assisted system for finding potential partners and a landing page builder. I also modernized legacy systems and established a release process for software employees built with AI.
  7. Now Independent practice at chadaev.ai I help companies automate work and implement AI, building internal systems and web services. I limit concurrent work to two projects so each gets enough time and attention.

What shaped the way I work

Throughout my career, I've connected business needs with development work. As a project manager, I turned client requests into clear tasks for a team. In a corporate setting, I coordinated product development with domain experts, contractors and security teams. As a developer, I built systems myself and took responsibility for their operation.

I've seen the original intent get lost as a task moves from a manager to an analyst and then to a developer. The software meets the requirements on paper, but the business needs a different result, and responsibility falls between roles. Coordinating that team also takes time and money. When I analyze the problem, design the solution and write the code myself, there are fewer handoffs and one person accountable for the result.

Where my experience helps

I learn unfamiliar domains and design complex systems around their constraints. I've worked with oil and gas specialists, property developers, public-sector clients, advertising agencies, sales teams and a fintech startup. This means understanding processes, discussing them with experts and reconciling requirements that may overlap or conflict. I refine the solution as the work progresses and testing reveals more. This approach can uncover alternatives to familiar tools, such as AI-assisted advertiser discovery or custom antifraud when off-the-shelf products fall short.

I take a system beyond finished code to readiness for everyday use. I plan for operations, test the result, migrate data and train users. I don't leave testing to the client. After the launch of a website for property developer LSR Group, several years of news archives were found to be missing on New Year's night, putting search rankings at risk. I contacted the developer on my team, and the issue was fixed in under an hour.

I distinguish tasks suited to AI from those that need conventional software logic. When integrating language models into client systems, I account for their limitations. They can help read, compare and draft text, but financial calculations and irreversible decisions cannot be entrusted to a model alone.

How we'll work together

You work with me from the first discussion through launch and ongoing operation. I take on no more than two projects at once so I can give each enough time and attention and stay close to the details. If a task falls outside my expertise, I flag that in advance. Written communication and documentation can be in English; live calls are in Russian.

I work under a contract and hand over the source code, access credentials and documentation. Everything needed to keep working with the system stays with you.

Clear expectations before work begins

Custom development only when needed

If an inexpensive off-the-shelf service meets your needs, I'll recommend it. There's no reason to commission a custom system in that situation, even if it means I don't get the project.

Progress updates every week

I share intermediate results weekly, not just at handover. You can see where the project stands and adjust priorities as the work progresses. Updates can be written.

Clear limits to my expertise

I'll flag any work that needs a different specialist. Native mobile apps, complex product design and formal security audits should go to specialists in those fields.

Your project stays confidential

I honor NDAs, so my case studies do not name the advertising companies or show screenshots of protected systems. I apply the same care to your data, code and project details.

No deception or rule evasion

I don't take on gambling projects, dubious financial schemes, attempts to bypass platform rules or products that deceive users. The budget doesn't change that decision.

A handover that supports future work

I put the code in your repository and provide documentation and instructions for running and restoring the system. Another team can then understand it and continue maintenance and development.

Custom fraud detection cuts problem traffic more than 20-fold

The agency bought traffic from multiple sources but still received advertiser complaints despite an off-the-shelf filter. I analyzed click data and tested hypotheses to find what it was missing, then built a custom click-scoring system.

From desktop planning tool to enterprise web platform

A reservoir-planning tool was shared as a file, with no access controls. I led its transition through a prototype and MVP to a production web platform and departmental rollout, meeting corporate security, data handling and approved-software requirements.

After a previous contractor could not complete the project, the developer needed a replacement website with complex integrations. I coordinated the agency and three contractor companies. The site launched about a week and a half before New Year and served for more than seven years.

What would you like to solve?

Share a detailed brief, requirements or any materials you already have. If you have none yet, a few sentences about the current situation and your goal are enough. I review every message myself and respond within one business day.

  • You will work directly with me, not a sales representative.
  • A free initial written discussion will help establish whether I can help and where to start.
  • If the project is outside my expertise, I will tell you directly.
